Planning Granted for a Striking Bungalow Conversion in Haslemere, Surrey

We were delighted to hear that the planning application to convert a bungalow into a two storey family home was granted by Waverley Borough Council.

This 1950s property, one of six identical properties situated on a steeply sloping road has remained largely unaltered over the decades. The property sits on a hillside plot and benefits from stunning views towards Hindhead Common across the roof tops.

Our brief was for a contemporary first floor extension and new holistic design to transform the dated look of the entire family home, doubling its size and optimising the orientation of the accommodation in order to benefit from the far-reaching views and its beautiful setting.

The resulting upside-down house will have an open-plan kitchen, dining and living accommodation situated on the first floor with a level bridge link to the rear garden. New materials include light render to re-clad the existing 1950s brickwork and provide a seamless transition between old and new. The innovative roof design will be zinc-clad and shelter a new dining terrace with full height gable glazing to admire the views through the seasons.
